Ars Poetica
by Steven Long
People who fish sometimes carry a tool
to cut a hook if
it has implanted itself in a person or–for
those whose faith allows
fish pain–in a fish. Some who do not fish will
crave such a tool–some
way to stop the pain, to sever the barbed
snag, the taut line.

A lovely new poem by Steven Long, one that just happens to be a fine, succinct deployment of the metaphor-to-meaning structure. My thanks to Steve for allowing me to publish it on this site!
